Camelot, helping people with disabilities

Jessie and Scout, the horse

I talk about Camelot often, as it is a place of community, where people gather to support and develop their skills in working in relationship with the grace and generosity of the horse. Camelot is a facility that provides a sacred space dedicated to that one purpose. Its designed for people with physical challenges to give them an opportunity to develop leadership skills in working with a community who  have one goal, to serve their special needs.

Any success is based on generating the perfect amount of skill and resource to fulfill the intention of the goal. Camelot is one such place. People are drawn to Camelot for many reasons, to share knowledge, teach, to serve others who, if not for them would never experience the freedom of riding.

Founded in 1980, Camelot has grown to become a state-of-the art facility,  located on 14.25 acres. They have a beautifully maintained ranch with 3 large pastures, one covered and a dressage arena in addition to a walking trail on the perimeter of the property.

They also have a labyrinth donated by one of the members and designed for wheelchair access. Each rock carefully lines the path, thoughtfully placed by students, volunteers and their families.

As a non-profit, charitable organization, Camelot does not charge students, relying solely on private donations from the community.

Each year 2 important fund-raisers are held to insure the continuation of the success of the program.  All donations are 100% tax deductible.  Please join us for Starry Knights  October 21, or to donate or purchase silent auction items, visit http://camelotaz.org/
